Grand Daddy Purple

Grand Daddy Purple ,GDP or Grand Daddy Purp is an indica strain that was introduced to the Bay Area medical marijuana community in 2003 by Ken Estes.

Grand Daddy Purple ancestors have been grown in legendary Humboldt County, for the past 3 decades. GDP is the result of cross between Purple Urkle and Big Bud. By crossing these 2 strains, Grand Daddy Purple has turned into a more stable plant capable of high yields.

Grand Daddy Purple won the Inglewood Medical Cannabis Cup 2004, and the Green Cup in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Grand Daddy Purple can be grown indoors or outdoors, in soil or hydro. Due to its indica genes Grand Daddy Purple is short and bushy but can be super cropped to increase its yields. When left untrained, Grand Daddy Purple will grow into a beautiful shrub that will grow indoors up to 3 feet and around 8 feet outdoors. Grand Daddy Purple has tight internodes and dense dark green to purple leaves.

According to Ken Estes, one of the keys to bring Grand Daddy Purple to its full potential is to provide extremely good air circulation. Temperature should be kept at a cool 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit also Grand Daddy Purple can be extremely forgiving as long as you water daily.

When it comes to flowering, Ken Estes cleans most of his plants of the lower branches, this is to increase air flow and encourage each plant to develop its top colas.

At six weeks, Grand Daddy Purple begins to turn purple, at week 7 it completely turns purple. You can turn most medical marijuana strains purple by exposing your plant to low temperatures, but Grand Daddy Purple turns purple due to its genetics and if grown under perfect conditions.

Grand Daddy Purple flowers for 8-9 weeks, humidity should be kept at 50% humidity and temperature should be between (70 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, if plant gets exposed to temperatures higher than 80 degrees it will not turn purple)

Grand Daddy Purple will yield somewhere between .05 oz - 3.5 ounces indoor and outdoor you will get around 8 ounces to 5 pounds.

Grand Daddy Purple buds look dense hairy crystallized with a purple hue. The smell that Grand Daddy Purple buds have is the typical pine scent with a floral like tint and have flower blossom taste.

Medical Marijuana patients use Grand Daddy purple to treat pain stress, pain, and insomnia.

“Overall a great strain for pain relief and muscle relaxation. Beautiful appearance with deep purple buds and lovely orange hairs. If you ever get the chance don't pass up the GDP.”
